Yesterday during the second day of the fifth and final test match between India and England, KL Rahul took a catch. Now there is no doubt that this was a stunning catch taken from the Indian batsman. But some of the Indian fans claimed that this is a catch taken in a way that has not happened in cricket before. They are wrong because Shahid Afridi took a catch like this in world t20 2009. In fact Rahul here did not run much backwards while Afridi had to cover a lot of distance to get himself to the ball. No credit being taken from Rahul because no doubt it was a stunner from the Indian opener. This was a beauty from him and such catches are not easy no matter how much you run backwards. India losing the plot once again here at the Oval. This series could have been with India easily. There are a lot of things which India could have done well and taken the series. But unfortunately they did not and now there is a chance that they might lose this series 4-1 against the hosts England.

Stuart Broad was the batsman here and he tried to hit the left arm spinner Jadeja for a big shot. Broad was batting well in the center and his partnership with Buttler added some really important runs for the England side. This was a rash shot from Broad. The wicket did give Jadeja a bit of turn and hence he was bowling some good balls as well. The ball did not hit the middle of the bat hence it up in the air a lot but not to the length which Broad anticipated. Rahul was stationed at mid-on. He had to run back a few paces to get under the ball. The ball was coming over his shoulders and hence it was a very tough chance for him to grab the ball. But Rahul kept his eyes on the ball which at that point was the main thing. In such catches keeping an eye on the ball all the time is the key factor. The moment you lost the contact with the ball the catch becomes a lot difficult.

Rahul had to put in a dive at the end which we often see in such catches. They end up with a dive because the fielders have to stretch themselves in order to get their hands near to the ball. Rahul grabbed the ball after that and completed the catch. There is no doubt that so far in the series this is one of the best takes that we have seen. The Indian team in the fielding has been good but their batting has not fired. This England side has been talked about as a really weak unit and India had every chance to take away the series. The Indian batting had they delivered something a bit more could have turned the results in their favor.
