Amir to get his first Grade 1 match on Tuesday

Good news for Muhammad Amir and his fans as the left arm fast bowler will play his first Grade 1 match on Tuesday in the current T20 championship being played in Pakistan. Amir will represent Rawalpindi division.
Muhammad Amir who was facing a five year Ban from all domains of cricket posted by the ICC. Amir was found guilty in the spot fixing scandal in 2010 in England when he and Muhammad Asif bowled deliberate noballs.

Salman Butt the test captain in that test series was also involved with the two fast bowlers and he and Asif were also posted with a ban by the ICC. Muhammad Amir though was the first to admit his mistake and got a relief by the court and ICC.

Last year the Pakistan cricket board made an appeal to the ICC to allow Amir to play the domestic cricket in Pakistan in order to give some relief to the young fast bowler. The ICC had a meeting with the PCB officials over this matter as well.

Later the ICC announced and allowed Amir to play the club cricket in Pakistan but still there was no permission given to play the division or Grade 1 cricket. Amir found a cushion for himself there and started practicing.
He performed well in the club cricket representing Omer Associates who were the first the enroll Amir in their side while the rest of the participants still thinking about taking him in or not. Amir bowled well for his team in the matches he played.

Amir later got an injury and was ruled out of the tournament. He remained out of cricket till now as wel see him back. His ban is almost over now and after playing the Grade 1 matches Amir will be available for the selection in the international squad for Pakistan.
Amir will play his first Grade 1 match against the Bahawalpur division team in the ongoing T20 tournament. It will be first match after his injury and eyes will be on him regarding his fitness and performance.

At the same time the selection of Amir for the international team is a long mile. The selectors haven’t opposed his selection but at the same time they all are very much cautious in their approach and words towards his case.
The reason is the ongoing debated among the cricketing circles and fans in Pakistan and both the entities are clearly divided into two fractions. One is strongly opposing the return of Amir, Asif and Butt in cricket while the other supporting their comeback.

It will be seriously hard for the PCB to decide on what to take and what not. The pressure is there as we saw first Asif and Butt who are also given a go ahead by the ICC to play domestic cricket in Pakistan were allowed by the PCB to play as well.
Later after the reaction of the public nailed their return, PCB had to ask them to stay back for the time being. Amir will also be among the two in the final decision. The only difference is that Amir is playing the domestic while the other two are not.
