ICC announces the new test ranks after the Dubai test ended between Pakistan and England and some major shuffling has taken place for both teams. Joe Root and Yasir Shah are the standout performers in the longer version of the game.
Just as Pakistan clinched a last moment win against England in Dubai, ICC was ready to announce the new test rankings. Joe Root once again takes his place back as the leading test batsman. His position was taken away by the Australian captain Steven Smith.
Root’s mesmerizing tales with the bat against Pakistan in both the tests enabled him to get his spot back in the race. Previously he was at number 2 in the list before England arrived in the UAE.
Pakistan’s leg spinner Yasir Shah becomes the second best test bowler after his magnificent performance in the second test at Dubai. Yasir picked up a figure of 8-180 and led Pakistan to a thrilling win on the last day in the last session of the match against England.
Pakistan clinched the match with 178 runs with 6 overs left in the day’s play. Apart from the bowling brilliance, the batting line for Pakistan is also making waves.
Younis Khan manages to get into the top five. Captain Misbah Ul Haq is at number 11 with his ton and a fifty in the match while Asad Shafiq gets a career best number 12 position.
