ICC ODI, Batsman Ranking 2018 – Top 10 Batsman 2018

Babar Azam is the new face of Pakistan batting. The little man from Lahore, Pakistan is currently the number 3 batsman for Pakistan in the limited overs cricket. Babar Azam has done really well in the shorter format of cricket. In the test format he needs improvement. Babar Azam has not been scoring runs in test cricket the same way he has been doing in the limited overs cricket. He has a mental block in the longer version of the game and that is the reason we see him getting out on low totals. Now Babar did score a fifty in the first innings of the opening test against England in the previous series but then he was hit on the arm and a fracture put him out of the series. One could say he might have broken that mental block. But that is not a big issue he will be back in test cricket in the next series.

How well he bats at number three can be calculated easily with the current ICC ODI Rankings 2018 in which Babar Azam is right at number 2 spot .On the top King Kohli is sitting with a high lead against all the other batters. Kohli is almost hundred points ahead of Babar. Kohli the India skipper is definitely the best batsman in the world especially in the limited overs cricket. He too will face a test in the upcoming weeks as India will be playing in England and Kohli does not have a fifty under his name in England. So he will be under the radar and the Indian fans will be looking for runs from his bat.

Babar is a really good find for Pakistan. He has been in the cricketing circles for some time now. He played the under 19 cricket and before that the under 16. He then got runs in the domestic cricket and was picked up for the Pakistan cricket team eventually. His best came when he scored three consecutive hundreds in three back to back ODI matches. Babar scored these hundreds in the last series Pakistan played against West Indies in the UAE. Babar Azam is now amongst an elite group of Pakistan and international players who have scored three back to back tons. This is not something easy getting hundreds like this. This shows that Babar not only has got the talent but also he has the temperament as well to carry his innings. His ODI record has been splendid and this is the reason he is now ranking as the second best batsman in the 50 overs cricket. Babar has filled that role vacant at the top order for Pakistan for a long time. Now Pakistan has a good solid number three batsman in their team.
