Dubai: The ICC T20 rankings have experienced a total revamp with players and teams moving up and down over the recently concluded festive period.
Australia is shockingly ranked 8th, below 7th place Pakistan and only above Afghanistan and Scotland. Who would have thought ODI World Champions Australia to be in the worst form of their history when it comes to the T20 format. The Kangaroos could not build on from the momentum gained by an impressive 4-1 series win against visitors who totally outlasted the hosts in the 3 match T20 bout.
Australia was looking to deprive India of their 2nd spot in the ODI rankings, but quite ironically dropped to 8th in the T20 rankings as a result of an embarrassing 3-0 whitewash at the hands of the blues.
While former champions Pakistan may be above the Aussies, their camp too needs to do a lot of homework heading into the mega event in India. The men in green won the opening game against a strong kiwi side but that was just about it when it came to what positive the greens took home from the 3 match series. The humiliating losses at Auckland and Wellington made the greens slip to 7th from 6th.
The latest T20 batsman rankings to narrate a sorry story for Pakistan. No Pakistani batsman holds a place in the top 10, with Umar Akmal maintaining the highest position (18th). Shahid Afridi is ranked 3rd in the all-rounders rankings.
