Azhar, Umar pulls out important win for Balochistan

Azhar Ali and Uma Akmal hit the fifties and at the end, a little cameo from Sohail Tanvir made sure that they take out the last pool game for Balochistan. This win will not keep in the race towards the finals.

Sharjeel Khan was immediately out after making 13 to Awais Zia. He had a poor run of form in this tournament. Imam Ul Haq ad Kamran Akmal held the innings together and hit a massive 197 runs partnership.

Both of them scored hundreds and batted till the 40th over. Imam got out first by Bhatti after hitting 102 in which he scored 10 fours. After 30 odd runs later Kamran Akmal was taken by Usama Mir for 134. Kamran hit 14 fours and 5 sixes.

The stage was set and thanks to little cameos by Raza (26) and Haroon (14) the Federal team finished on 315 runs, which were the second highest total made in the cup so far. For the Balochistan team, Bilawal Bhatti picked up 3 wickets. Usama Mir finished with 2 wickets while Awais and Sohail get 1 wicket apiece.

The start of the chase for Balochistan was solid with Azhar and Awais hitting 67 for the first wicket. Awais made 45 before he got run out on a silly call. Imam was quick to the ball and he did not give Awais time to get back. Awais hit 7 fours in his innings.

Rameez and Azhar then started scoring runs for the second wicket. Both added another 50 plus runs for the second wicket before Rameez got stumped to Arsal on 33.

In the meantime, Azhar hit his fifty and went on to hit 80 runs with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes. He was caught by Kamran behind he stumps of Abbas. Babar Azam and Umar Akmal played well and added 48 runs after the departure of Azhar.

Babar was looking good, but a rash shot against Sami ended his batting life on 31. The flurry was provided to the Balochistan innings by Umar Akmal and later Sohail Tanvir. Umar Akmal made 59 runs off 45 balls.

He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes. He was given a spot by Hasan, who made 25. The pair added important 55 run in the ending stages of the game. When Hasan got out, Sohail Tanvir came in and his 26 off 9 balls changed the context of the whole game.

Tanvir blasted 2 sixes and 3 fours in his innings. Despite Umar Akmal got out in the 49th over, it was Tanvir, who took Balochistan over the line. Balochistan won the game by 7 wickets. Sami picked up 3 wickets for Federal with Hassan, Abbas, and Arsal getting 1 wicket each. Kamran Akmal was named the player of the match for his 134 runs.
