County Cricket: Jason Roy signs a three-year deal with Surrey

Jason Roy, England’s in-form opener, has signed a brand new three-year deal with his current County Cricket club Surrey. The hard-hitting batsman put pen to paper in a fresh deal right on the brink of traveling to Bangladesh for a short tour. The club confirmed the contract extension of their premier batsman on Thursday (October 6).

The 26-year-old, who began his career with Surrey in 2008 in a T20 International, is now set to star for the club until the end of the 2019 season. The deal comes only a few days after Roy’s central contract with England’s national cricket team was extended.

“Im extremely proud to sign an extension at a place I call home. There are some hugely exciting times ahead at this great club,”

England are set to play hosts Bangladesh in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series and two-match Test series. After displaying exquisite form with the bat in limtied-overs cricket for both club and country over the past couple of years, Roy is a key member of the ODI set-up and is expected to open the batting in the opening game at Dhaka on Friday.
