Pakistan star bowler Imad Wasim cracked the top five of the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings for T20I Bowlers after unleashing his spectacular deliveries against West Indies.
The Men in Green earned their first T20 whitewash in three match series after displaying their best cricket against the World T20 Champions West Indies. They dominated throughout the series in United Arab Emirates.
Imad displayed outstanding performances throughout the series and steered Pakistan to glory. He ended up as the highest wicket-taker of the series with nine wickets. Mustering it further, the spinner jolted down an economy rate of 4.5 per over.
With his marvellous stint in the short format series, Imad climbed 33 spots in the latest rankings by International Cricket Council. He is now standing at number four and is currently the highest ranked Pakistani bowler in ICC T20 rankings.
The youngster was named Man of the Match for the final encounter at Sheikh Zayed Sports Complex and was also named Man of the Series. After receiving the accolade he was quoted in a post-match press conference, “I’m working hard. I try to bowl it at the batsman’s pads, and not offer them width. I pride myself at my batting.”
Imad is just five points behind the Caribbean bowler Samuel Badree. Badree has falled two places to number three in the rankings.
With the slip of Badree, Imran Tahir of South Africa leads the list of ICC T20 bowlers rankings.
Imadcompatriot SohailTanvir also leap frogged in the ICC rankings. His impressive performances saw him moving up 19 places. Tanveer is now standing at the 36th position after bagging five wickets in the series.
In the batting end of T20 rankings, the major change outside Top 20 was seen between the veteran Shoaib Malik of Pakistan and Johnson Charles of West Indies.
The Caribbean batsman fell three spots to number 26th whereas Malik jumped 10 spots to number 35th in the ICC T20 batting rankings.
Babar Azam, who is the highest run-getter of the series with 101 runs, rocketed 201 spots up the rankings. He is now standing at number 66 in the ICC rankings in this format.
Khalid Latif also cracked the Top 100 list for the first time after his aggregate score of 95 from the series. He is now placed at 94th in the ICC T20 batting list.
Virat Kohli is standing at the top whereas Aaron Finch of Australia sits behind him with a difference of 49 points.
In the T20 Team rankings by International Cricket Council, Pakistan is still standing at the seventh spot. However, the Caribbean side has fallen one spot to number four.
The Black Caps are leading the chart of the shortest format whereas India and South Africa are behind them.
