After a rain delay lasting two-and-a-half hours, the Greenfield International Stadium’s first international game got underway as an eight-overs-a-side shootout, with Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, deciding to bowl first in the series decider.
As the innings began, wickets kept on falling and India could only score 67 runs off their 8 overs. For India, Manish Pandey top scored with 17 runs, while from New Zealand, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee took 2 wickets each.
As the New Zealand’s chase started, they lost their first wicket in the very first over and the 2nd wickets in second over. Later Phillips with 11 runs and Williamson with 8 runs tried to get some runs on board, before Williamson got run out.
Grandhomme, then tried to chase the total with brilliant knock of 17 off 10 balls, but that wasn’t simply enough as the New Zealand lost the match. India won the match by 6 runs and the series by 2-1.
