Kohli retains position as No.1 T20I batsman in latest ICC rankings

Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli has retained his no.1 position in the ICC T20 International batsman rankings following the recently concluded two-match series with the West Indies in Florida. The ICC (International Cricket Council) released the revised T20 International rankings and the Indian star maintained top spot.

His teammate Ravichandran Ashwin jumped up three places to grab fourth spot in the T20I bowlers rankings. Samuel Badree remains the no.1 bowler in the format, followed by South Africa’s Imran Tahir and Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah at 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Much like Kohli, the other 4 of the top 5, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, Faf Du Pless and Joe Root all seemed to have retained their respective 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions.

As far as the team rankings go, India managing to avoid a whitewash, thanks to rain in the second game means the blues remain second in the table. World Champions West Indies remain 3rd below India, despite beating them in the first T20. Had the defending champions won both games, they would have leapfrogged India into 2nd.

New Zealand still remain the top ranked T20I side. South Africa sit fourth, followed by England (5th) and Pakistan (6th).
