MCL, Virgo Super Kings edges out Libra Legends

Virgo Super Kings held on to their nerves at the final stages of the game against Libra Legends and pull off an amazing 5 runs win in the final over. Kings managed to save 17 runs in the final over by the Brett Lee.

Virgo Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first on Sharjah track. Kings had a good start as the two former South African international Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie. They put on 44 for the first wicket in 6 overs.

McKenzie then departed after making 26 runs. Smith carried on and reached a blazing 57 for the Kings. Smith hit 5 sixes and 3 fours. Owais Shah (15) and Azhar Mehmood (22) did well in the middle overs for the Kings. However, the Kings could pick the pace which they should have as they reached hundred at the start of the second phase of their batting.

Jacob Oram (18), Hasan Raza (13) and Foster (13) pushed Kings over a60 mark and eventually ended up at 168. Hogg remained the pick of the bowlers for Libra Legends with figures of 4-0-12-3.

Libra Legends went off to a flying start with Lumb and Kallis blasted the Kings bowling unit to all corners of the park except for Kartik who managed to bowl well under pressure. Lumb (54) and Kallis (48) hit 102 runs in almost 12 overs and at that stage, it looked as if Legends would run away with this one.

Kings managed to pick up Kallis just after Legends reached their 100. At 127 Lumb departed and after that, the game suddenly changed. Lee bowled a fantastic 18th over giving just 3 runs and that put Kings right back into the game. Ten Doeschate tried his best to save the game for the Legends with his 42 off 23 balls, but eventually fell short of the Kings total by 5 runs.
