Misbah to retire after England series?

No Final Decision Yet

Misbah to retire

Misbah talking to the media

When the media approached Misbah on the sidelines of a training camp in Lahore and asked him if he was thinking of retiring, the Pakistan Test Team captain had a simple answer to give: “I have not taken a final decision”
Even though the 41 year old has been vocal about thinking of retirement after the coming Test series against England, he has made clear that no final decisions have been made and that he chooses, rather hopes, that whenever he does leave the game, he does so on a high. “People will remember your final performance” he says, emphasizing how he hopes to leave a memorable last memory of his cricketing career.

In 2012, Misbah had announced his retirement from twenty20 cricket and three years after, when Pakistan finished third in the 2015 World Cup in Australia, he left the one day game as well. Test pitches are still familiar to Misbah’s game, yet with the announcement of him speculating retirement, one can never be too sure for how long that will be.

High expectations for England series

The middle order batsman will no doubt be remembered for his impeccable leadership qualities that managed to stabilize the much shaken Pakistani team following the spot fixing scandal that took away from them three major players, including Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif.

The Pakistani side is very enthusiastic to face the Ashes winning team of England in a 3 test series which is ready to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) onwards October 13th. The series is expected to start from the grounds of Abu Dhabi. Fresh off from their win against Australia, the England side will no doubt be more than pumped to begin with the series, while Misbah speculates on the hardship their rivals may face following the unfamiliarity of the UAE grounds for them.

“This English team has done well in the Ashes… but they do not have experience of UAE conditions and that will be a big challenge for them.” Said the Pakistani Test captain simply.

When the media asked whether the Pakistani side will miss having Saeed Ajmal on their side following the incredible strength he adds to the team, Misbah reflected with a more positive approach saying that leg spinner Yasir Shah and left armer Zulfiqar Babar are both capable replacements for Saeed Ajmal. Complimenting their extraordinary shapes, he added “Shah and Babar are doing extraordinarily well and that’s a big plus, so they haven’t made us feel anyone’s absence,”
