Pakistan Cup, Sindh VS KPK, Match Preview

KPK team led by newly appointed skipper Ahmad Shahzad is all set to play their final group stage game against Sindh today. KPK has won two of their first three games and would definitely be taking all their chances today for a win.

The two teams have played well in the tournament so far, but it will be the Sindh team to enter the ground with some advantages on their sides. For this moment, KPK too has impressed the cricket Pundits and fans, especially with their last match performance.

Talking about the KPK team, they lost their opener against Federal, the game that sparked the Younis Khan controversy and a few days later Younis, who was the captain of the side withdrew his name from the team and deserted the cup to fly back to Karachi.

This should not have happened, but the fate sometimes acts cruelly. Younis now in the middle of nowhere after PCB issued him a show cause notice despite the leading runs scorer in test cricket apologized for his irrational behavior to the PCB chairman on the phone.

Younis wanted to get back in the team, but it was too late for him. We all know that the umpiring standards in domestic games are not good, but that does not mean such decisions should be taken from a senior player like Younis Khan.

Despite all this controversy, KPK played some attacking cricket in their last game and the captaincy of Ahmad Shahzad was the icing on the cake. He was excellent with his bowling changes and field placements. Balochistan looked no match to Ahmad’s men. For today’s game, they surely have a bright chance.

Coming to the mighty Sindh team, they have not lost a game so far in Pakistan Cup. They played two and won both games. Sindh led by Sarfraz looked a very compact unit. They have Khurram Manzoor and Sami Aslam at the top and in the first two games the two made a lot of runs.

Khurram has two tons in the cup so far where Sami has hit hundred in the first game and in the second made a fifty. Sindh has shown power in their batting and a lot of skillful variations with the ball. Amir got 5 wickets in the last game for Sindh. He is also the leading wicket-taker in the cup so far.

This will be a very tight contest looking at the recent performances of both the teams. Whichever team wins today’s game will fancy its chances for the finals here in Faisalabad.
