PSL: Spinners help Quetta win thriller against Lahore

PSL, Match 2, Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars, Dubai
Quetta Gladiators 136/9 beat Lahore Qalandars 128 (18.4/20 ov, target 137) by 8 runs

The Lahore Qalandars were the better team for the greater part of the game, but it was the Quetta Gladiators side that emerged victorious in the end, thanks to a never-say-die attitude by their spinners.

The Qalandars bowling attack did brilliantly to restrict a strong-looking Gladiators batting lineup to a tender total of 136. England’s Jason Roy and New Zealand legend Brendon McCullum got the Lahore chase off to a flier, leaving the required run-rate at less than a run-a-ball.

Lahore’s middle-order suffered a horrendous collapse following the poor wicket of Umar Akmal. Grant Elliott and West Indies spinner Sunile Narine constructed an unlikely partnership that brought the Qalandars back in the drivers seat. Mohammad Nawaz changed things in the 17th over with the wicket of Elliott. In the following over, Quetta affirmed a vice grip on the game with 2 wickets coming in Tymal Mills over.
