Yasir looking forward to outshine Ashwin

Pakistan star leg-spinner Yasir Shah will be eyeing to leap frog Ravichandran Ashwin of India for the fastest person in Asia to grab 100 victims in the Test format of the game.

The Men in Green will lock horn with West Indies for the first Test of the three-match series on 13th October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This will be Pakistan’s 400th Test and they will play with a pink ball under lights for the first time.

With the Caribbean side struggling to find form in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan will be looking forward to claiming another series whitewash. They have already crushed West Indies with 3-0 at T20 Internationals and One Day International series and will be eyeing to carry the rhythm in the longer format.

The tourists were already struggling in the Tests as they recently endured 2-0 series defeat at the hands of India on their home soil. Adding further to their misery, some of the experienced players are ruled out of the tour whereas their head coach Phill Simmons was sacked just hours before the tour. As a result, their morale is very low and they have yet to claim a victory in the region.

The lad from Swabi will be looking to achieve accolades of his own in this historic match. He is eyeing to grab the 100 wicket haul from his 17th Test match and become the fastest player in the region to do so.

Currently, the India star Ashwin has the privilege of becoming the fastest Asian to pick up 100 wickets. He accomplished the feat from just 18 Test matches.

The Indian great, however, wished best of luck to Yasir on the social media prior to the Test match. He tweeted to the Pakistani veteran, Good Luck, may the force be with him.”

The 30-year-old currently records 95 scalps from 16 Tests. He is just five short of reaching the milestone. The spin-friendly conditions in Dubai will boost his chances to accomplish the feat. Furthermore, the low morale of the Caribbean side and their current form will also favor Yasir.

Shah was also in contention of becoming the fastest man to achieve 100 Test scalps when he bagged 10 for at Lords’ and became the number one Test bowler at the ICC Test rankings. Quick George Lohmann of England currently holds the record who accomplished the task from just 16 Tests.
