Islamabad: Pakistan’s troubled off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has said that he targets a return to the national side for the 2016 World T20 by performing well in the Pakistan Super League.
The slow right arm was considered the Worlds best spinner and led his side to a memorable World T20 triumph in 2009. Though the Pakistan star suffered a massive downfall in his career due to his action being deemed illegal.
Ajmal suffered from a 5-month ban for his illegal action which forced him to redevelop his style. With his new action, the doosra master did manage to break into the International squad for the Bangladesh series but faired far from what the real Ajmal used to perform for Pakistan.
Ajmal became the last gasp signing in the Pakistan Super League draft after he was picked by the Misbah Ul Haq led side Islamabad United. Speaking in his latest interview, the spin magician comments that he has been training on a different level as of late, and looks to surprise everyone with a return to form.
“I have been training on a different level. Since the last few months, I have been trying to work on my weaknesses, and as of now my main aim is to star in the PSL and catch the eye of the selectors. Hopefully, I will be back for the World T20 and promise that the fans would get to see the Saeed Ajmal of old. “
