Lahore Whites, lead by Salman Butt defeated Saeed Ajmal-led Faisalabad by 10 runs on Wednesday to qualify for the final of the National T20 Cup .
After asking to bat, Lahore Whites set a target of 143 runs with openers Kamran Akmal and Butt contributing heavily with 30 off 22 and 40 off 23. They struck a 69-partnership in seven overs.
None of the Lahore Whites’s batsmen after both the openers put up a profound performance. Umar Akmal, struck run-a-ball 35. He was at 16 off 28 balls at one stage. Faisalabad captain, Ajmal, on the other hand returned 1/13 from four overs in what was the last match of his cricketing career.
Faisalabad, in reply lost their first wicket in the 2nd over. Gohar Ali, who was dropped at third-man earlier in the innings, partnered with Sohaib Maqsood for a 37-run second-wicket stand.
After them, Imran Khalid tried to get Faisalabad’s chase back on track with his 12-ball 24 but his stay at the crease ended and his effort wasn’t enough for his team as they lost by 10 runs and got knocked out of the tournament.
