Lahore: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has suffered an all new injury blow after he went off the training sessions with some pain in his shin.
Just when things seem to be heading in the right direction, something bad happens here or there, that has been the story of Pakistan cricket over the years. Controversial fast bowler Mohammad Amir’s inclusion in the national training camps caused quite alot of confusion and disunity among the players. Star all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez led the boycott movement against Mohammad Amir, which was resolved by the PCB on Sunday.
Both Hafeez and Azhar Ali had earlier walked out of the training camps, due to their refusal to train alongside Amir. Though, after negotiations with the PCB, the duo returned to the camps, but now, Hafeez has suffered a demoralising setback. After feeling some discomfort in his shin, the all-rounder walked off the camps, leaving an uncertainty over the seriousness of the injury. Whether or not the injury is serious enough to rule him out of the New Zealand series, is yet to be seen.
Pakistan have freshly suffered a costly blow of leg-spinner Yasir Shah being excluded from the New Zealand series. Mohammad Hafeez’s injury would surely add to their woes, if it does turn out a long term one.
