In their 4th match of the season, Kieron Pollard of Dhaka Dynamites nicked the battle of big-hitters against Carlos Brathwaite. Pollard’s 24-ball 55 – included six huge sixes – helped Dhaka to their third win in a row.
Khulna Titans, while batting first, had earlier made 156 for 5, a remarkable recovery from 47 for three in the first 10 overs. The late addition came mostly through Brathwaite’s unbeaten 64 that included six sixes in the last 5.5 overs.
Dhaka’s chase started even poorer, as they were 41 for 5 at one stage, but Pollard’s brutal batting and his huge sixes bought them back into the game, before Jahurul Islam and Mosaddek Hossain took them to victory with a ball to spare.
Khulna managed only 5 boundaries in the first 10 overs, and also lost Michael Klinger, Dhiman Ghosh and Nazmul Hossain Shanto during the same period.
Khulna’s poor bowling, but more credit to Pollard’s brilliancy, is the reason behind Dhaka’s thrilling victory, which came on the 5th ball of the 19th over.
Jahurul Islam after his match-winning knock said:
“I gambled with that reverse scoop off the second last ball. This is the first time I played in a match.”
