Cape Town: South Africa’s left-arm spinner, Aaron Phangiso, who’s bowling action was reported following a domestic cup semi-final, has now been cleared to take part in the 2016 ICC World T20 following successful tests.
Cricket South Africa confirmed late on Tuesday night that all of Phangiso’s deliveries from his latest redeveloped action meet the 15 degree requirements and therefore the bowler is clear to bowl in the Twenty Twenty world cup. However, the board conceded that the spinner wont be rushed back to the side right away.
Phangiso was rested for South Africa’s final T20 game against Australia and the management has revealed that the spinner will be given special training to get him more used to his new action.
“While it is tempting to play him, both Aaron and I feel it’s best that he takes a little more time to work on and gain confidence with his new adjustments.
We have an important few weeks coming up in India so it’s going to be important to have him in the right frame of mind both mentally and physically.”
