Zohaib Khan leads KPK to another impressive win

KPK gets another impressive win in their account and Ahmad Shahzad, who was captaining the side for the first time was happy with the performance of the whole team. Zohaib Khan was the star of the show of KPK hitting 82 with the bat and taking 4 wickets with the ball.

Ahmad Shahzad won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision fired back when Umar Gul took Fakhar out in the third over of the innings. Rameez Aziz looked good but then after making 10 runs he too fell out. Ajmal took his catch off Bilawal Bhatti’s bowling.

Zohaib who hit a fifty in the last game was again given a batting promotion came at number 4 and then he along with his captain hit a very decent partnership. Ahmad, who already hit a few boundaries changed his game plan and started concentrating more on the singles and doubles.

Zohaib has already shown that he is an orthodox player and plays with the situation of the match was again seen tickling the ball in the game and hitting most of his runs in the form of singles and doubles.

At 119 runs, Ahmad Shahzad to Azhar Ali after making 79. Ahmad hit 10 fours in his innings and looked really good. He timed the nicely and hardly give any chance to the bowler to fielders. Overall, he was very much methodical today.

After he fell, there were little partnerships made between Zohaib and Fahim then between Zohaib and Bismillah Khan who scored a good 20 runs. Yasir Shah played a good hand with his 17 runs. The lower middle order and tail for the KPK give some good amount of runs to the team.

KPK finished with 246 runs in their 50 over for the loss of 8 wickets. For Balochistan Umar Gul, Bilawal Bhatti and Sohail Tanvir picked up 2 wickets apiece, while Saeed Ajmal and Azhar Ali grasped one wicket each.

The Balochistan batting line again showed how fragile it is despite having names like Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Umar Akmal and Mohammad Nawaz. Azhar and Babar open up the chase for Balochistan and the two were going along nicely.

The pair hit some lusty shots and maintained a very decent run rate as well. But once the spinner Asghar and Zohaib came into play the Balochistan team started throwing away their wickets.

Azhar hit a poor shot to Rameez and Asghar gave KPK the first breakthrough. Babar still held his nerves and batted with great rationality. Balochistan gave Mohammad Hasan a batting promotion, but the wicket-keeper only made 13 and became the first victim of Zohaib Khan.

At that time Ahmad Shahzad gave the ball to Yasir Shah and Zia Ul Haq, they picked up 4 wickets in the middle overs. Yasir first took Umar Akmal in the slips and then trapped Mohammad Nawaz lbw. Umar failed to open his account while Nawaz just hit 13 runs.

The two middle order players Umar and Nawaz are showing some poor batting form despite the wicket now assisting the batters a lot. Zia then took the wickets of Shahid Yousuf and Sohail Tanvir and sealed the fate of the Balochistan team.

Balochistan team lost their first 6 wickets for just 116 runs, 5 wickets for 63 runs after, Azhar departed when the score was 53. Zohaib Khan then again was brought into the attack and he finished up the batting lives of Bilawal Bhatti and Umar Gul.

Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal showed some resilience at the ending stages of the game, but they could have never won the game for Balochistan. Umar Gul made 16 while Ajmal remained not out at 23. Ajmal batted sensibly and should be given a batting promotion now as the mainstream batsman for Balochistan is failing miserably.

For Balochistan Zohaib Khan picked up 4 wickets for just 18 runs in his 9.1 overs. Zia Ul Haq and Yasir Shah bagged 2 wickets each under their belt. Asghar and Fakhar too picked up one wicket each. Asghar bowled well once again. He is looking very promising and the way he is learning things so quickly would surely give the selectors some consideration towards his name. For the man of the match award, there was hardly any contest between Zohaib Khan and any other player from the teams. He remained outstanding with the bat and ball both.
